Basketball Game Preview: Harrison Wildcats vs. Talawanda Brave

Harrison and Talawanda are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2017, but not for long. The Harrison Wildcats will welcome the Talawanda Brave at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Harrison has nine straight wins, Talawanda has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Saturday, Harrison greeted the New Year with with a 44-25 victory over Monroe. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while the Hornets are ranked 594th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alli Robertson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten boards. The match was her 26th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Shelby Piepmeier, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Talawanda didn't have quite enough to beat Mariemont on Tuesday and fell 41-38.

Harrison's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-0. As for Talawanda, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.

Everything came up roses for Harrison against Talawanda in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the squad secured a 52-16 victory. In that game, Harrison amassed a halftime lead of 31-5, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
