Softball Recap: Lee Williams Volunteers vs. Mohave Thunderbirds
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times Lee Williams and Mohave have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Wednesday. The Volunteers fell 16-13 to the Thunderbirds. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderbirds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-6 last Tuesday.
Sienna Dooley and Sami Marshall did some serious damage despite the final result: Dooley scored two runs while going 3-for-5, while Marshall scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-5. Alana Garibaldi was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Lee Williams' loss dropped their record down to 8-14. As for Mohave, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Lee Williams will venture away from home to face off against Bradshaw Mountain at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Mohave, they will take on Sunnyslope in a tournament on Friday. The Thunderbirds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
