Basketball Recap: Isaiah Humphrey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Madison County over Central Woodstock

After flying high against Stonewall Jackson last Tuesday, Madison County came back down to earth. The matchup between the Madison County Mountaineers and the Central Woodstock Falcons didn't end well, with the Madison County Mountaineers falling 67-49. While losing is never fun, the Mountaineers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 294th, while the Falcons are ranked 72nd).

Madison County lost on Friday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Isaiah Humphrey, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Van DeGraaff, who posted 12 points.

Madison County dropped their record down to 6-15 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Central Woodstock, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Madison County has already played their next contest, a 51-47 victory against Clarke County on the 10th. As for Central Woodstock, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-47 win against Luray on the 8th.
