Softball Game Preview: Chambers Cougars vs. Mallard Creek Mavericks

Chambers is 0-10 against Mallard Creek since March of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Cougars will host the Mavericks at 5:30 p.m.

Chambers is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of West Charlotte.

17 must be Mallard Creek's lucky number: they beat West Mecklenburg with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Mavericks beat the Hawks by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 17-2. The Mavericks haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Madison Williams made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Joanna Brito was incredible, firing off two home runs, three RBI, and one stolen base while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Makaila Murray was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Mallard Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Chambers' loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Mallard Creek, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.
