Softball Game Preview: Eastern Eagles vs. Belpre Golden Eagles

The Eastern Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Belpre Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Eastern knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Belpre likes a good challenge.

Eastern is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 23-3 margin over Federal Hocking on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Belpre lost 15-7 to Warren on Wednesday.

Avery Varner was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Lucy Ruble was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

The win got Eastern back to even at 7-7. As for Belpre, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.

Eastern couldn't quite get it done against Belpre in their previous meeting on April 8th as they fell 10-7. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
