Softball Recap: Chilton County Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

Chilton County hadn't done well against Calera recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Tigers never let the Eagles get on the board and left with an 8-0 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 games by six runs or more this season.

Mallie Harrison made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 matchups.

In other batting news, Brianna Goggins was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Macey Pierce was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Chilton County pushed their record up to 31-8-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Calera, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-21.

As of now, neither Chilton County nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
