Billings Central Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Howie Martin led the charge by rushing for 146 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 143 yards and three TDs on only six passes. Those 146 rushing yards gave Martin a new career-high. Evan Harrell was another key player, picking up 143 receiving yards and three scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Billings Central Catholic was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 202 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 178 rushing yards in 12 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Billings Central Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Kael Aldrich led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.
Meanwhile, Sidney entered their tilt with Lockwood on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the LIONS, sneaking past 20-18.
Billings Central Catholic better keep an eye on Gradin Sukut. He was instrumental in Sidney's win, rushing for 85 yards and a pair of TDs. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Evan Erickson, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.
Sidney's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Billings Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Billings Central Catholic has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 266.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Sidney struggles in that department as they've been averaging 219.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
