Baseball Recap: Irvine Takes a Loss

Irvine was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Laguna Beach Breakers. The Vaqueros were not able to make up for their loss to the Breakers from their previous meeting back in February of 2022.

Irvine saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nico Macalino, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Macalino a new career-high. Evan Tamayo also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Irvine's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Laguna Beach, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

While Irvine had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
