Volleyball Recap: Bluffton Takes a Loss

If Bluffton was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Blackford on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell just short of the Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. While the Tigers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Knights 25-19 in the first set.

Bluffton took Fort Wayne Bishop Luers into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The final score came out to 19-25, 25-18, 19-25, 25-12, 15-10.

Despite the loss, Bluffton still got an impressive performance from Konley Ault, who had 27 digs, 17 kills, and one block. With that strong performance, Ault is now averaging an impressive 11.2 digs per game. Jaida Mills was another key player, getting 27 digs.

Alexa Vazquez was the offensive standout of the contest as she had ten digs and two aces. Vahsti Garcia also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Bluffton has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, they pushed their record up to 4-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Bluffton will venture away from home to challenge Marion at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Manchester on the 30th.
