Basketball Recap: Crimson Cliffs Takes a Loss

The Crimson Cliffs Mustangs ended up a good deal behind the Layton Christian Academy Eagles on Friday and lost 67-49.

When it comes to explaining why Crimson Cliffs lost, don't look at Josie Myers. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 25 points and 20 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Morgan Reddish, who posted 11 points.

Layton Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ava Smith, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 13 boards. Those 22 points gave Smith a new career-high. Sofia Olaya was another key player, shooting 64% from the field en route to 14 points along with six steals and five assists.

Crimson Cliffs' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Layton Christian Academy, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Looking ahead, Crimson Cliffs will head out on the road to challenge Kanab at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Layton Christian Academy has already played their next game (against Cedar), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
