League recap: Cedartown extends winning streak with victory over Cass

AAAA Region 7A recap October 29, 2013

Cedartown added to the longest winning streak in AAAA Region 7A this week by beating Cass, 54-28. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Bulldogs.

Cedartown took down the Colonels 54-28 last week, the largest margin of any game. Nick Chubb ran for 262 yards during the win.

Scott Hendrix's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Harrison BArnett threw for 106 and 1 touchdown and Israel Battle had 90 yards receiving. On the ground Chubb contributed 262 yards. Michael Helmes helped Cedartown's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 16 yards.

Chubb provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Bulldogs beat Cass. Chubb's favorite target this week was Battle, who caught 4 passes for 90 yards.

Chubb was a force in the backfield as Cedartown defeated the Colonels.

Chubb was the best running back in the league this week. Freddie Moore also contributed to the rushing game with 41 yards on the ground.

6-foot-2 quarterback Tanner Brumby of Pickens is the league leader in passing yards this season with 899. He has also thrown 8 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Battle. The Cedartown star has 29 catches for 558 yards.

The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Cedartown takes on second place Gilmer. The Bulldogs bested Cass last week, while Gilmer beat River Ridge.
