Football Recap: South Haven Christian vs. Providence Athletic Club Panthers

South Haven Christian had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of the Providence Athletic Club Panthers by a score of 36-34 on Saturday. South Haven Christian gained 85 more yards on the day, but it was Providence Athletic Club that made the best use of them.

Several South Haven Christian players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jared White, who rushed for 72 yards and two scores on only eight carries, and also picked up 35 receiving yards. Wyatt Choate was another key passer, throwing for 197 yards and three TDs.

Providence Athletic Club can attribute much of their success to Patrick Bennett, who threw for 191 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 12 passes, and also rushed for 37 yards and one score. Those 191 passing yards gave Bennett a new career-high. A healthy portion of Bennett's aerial production (88 yards to be exact) went to Kyle McFarland.

Coming up, South Haven Christian will take on Tri-Cities Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Providence Athletic Club, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Jefferson Davis Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
