Basketball Recap: Southeastern Homeschool Beats Chatham Homeschool for Their Sixth Straight Win

Southeastern HomeSchool had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.8 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They came out on top against the Chatham HomeSchool Thunder by a score of 53-44. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st in North Carolina, while the Thunder are ranked 253rd in North Carolina), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southeastern HomeSchool got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Max Brutus out in front who posted nine points in addition to eight boards and four steals. Those four steals gave Brutus a new career-high. Blake Batts was another key player, putting up 14 points and eight rebounds.

Southeastern HomeSchool smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 14 consecutive matches.

Several Thunder players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Parker Teague, who had 13 points. Another player making a difference was Tommy Driscoll, who scored 11 points.

Southeastern HomeSchool's win bumped their record up to 26-4. As for Chatham HomeSchool, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 24-14 record.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cardinals face off against the Cougars at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Southeastern HomeSchool is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.3 points per game this season. As for Chatham HomeSchool, they will challenge Greater Cabarrus S at 8:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Greater Cabarrus S' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.
