Basketball Recap: Norton Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

If Oakley wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Norton, they should've done a better job of containing Eli Jones. The Norton Bluejays strolled past the Oakley Plainsmen with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 63-44 thanks in part to Jones, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds gave him a new career-high.

When it comes to explaining why Oakley lost, don't look at Mason Jackson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 boards. Jackson is becoming a predictor of Oakley's success: when he posts at least ten rebounds the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Easton Fink, who posted six points.

Norton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Oakley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.

Norton will be playing at home against Phillipsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Oakley, they will head out to square off against Trego at 7:05 p.m. on Friday. Oakley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.9 points per game this season.
