Basketball Recap: Zaiden Jalomo Key Part of a Team Effort in Hornets Win

Tulia hadn't done well against Abernathy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Tulia Hornets walked away with a 52-40 win over the Abernathy Antelopes. While the Hornets didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Tulia got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zaiden Jalomo out in front who went 6 of 13 on his way to 17 points and four steals. Jalomo is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julius Johnson, who posted 18 points and three steals.

Tulia's win bumped their record up to 9-5. As for Abernathy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Tulia will have a chance to go back-to-back against Abernathy: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
