Football Recap: Storm Lake Takes a Loss

After soaring to 39 points the game before, Storm Lake was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They lost 38-12 to the Jefferson Yellowjackets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tornadoes of the 42-34 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Jefferson had a senior duo take command as Jayden Fujii rushed for 107 yards and three scores on only 11 carries and Jayce Shanno rushed for 201 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Storm Lake's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Jefferson, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Storm Lake and Jefferson could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Iowa Rankings. The Tornadoes (ranked 204th) will meet MOC-Floyd Valley (ranked 49th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Jefferson will challenge Sergeant Bluff-Luton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday with a big rank disadvantage (162 vs. 15).
