Baseball Recap: Falfurrias Finds Playoff Glory Versus Hallettsville

With a playoff win on the line, Falfurrias rose to the challenge on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Hallettsville Brahmas 2-1. This was a revenge game for the Fightin' Jerseys: when they faced off against the Brahmas on Thursday, they had to take a 1-0 defeat.

Nathaniel Jaramillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits.

On the hitting side, Falfurrias secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Derek Chavera, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Jax Garcia was another, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Falfurrias' win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-11-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Hallettsville, they moved to 29-4 with that loss, which also ended their 21-game winning streak.

Falfurrias will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Brahmas: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
