Softball Game Preview: Ballard Memorial Bombers vs. Mayfield Cardinals

Ballard Memorial has gone 9-1 against Mayfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Bombers will head out on the road to face off against the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m.

Ballard Memorial is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Mayfield on Tuesday. The Bombers put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 14-2 victory. The Bombers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

M Bohde was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, A Polivick was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was T Williams, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Ballard Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Mayfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.
