Soccer Game Preview: New Iberia vs. Westminster Academy

The New Iberia Yellowjackets will venture away from home to face off against the Westminster Academy Crusaders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. New Iberia will be strutting in after a win while Westminster Academy will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with six losses in a row, New Iberia turned things around against Westgate on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Tigers a 5-0 shutout. The Yellowjackets' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last five games.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Westminster Academy's offense. They lost 6-0 to Cecilia on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Crusaders in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost nine in a row.

New Iberia's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-14-1. As for Westminster Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6-1.

New Iberia came up short against Westminster Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2016, falling 3-1. Can New Iberia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
