Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monmouth Regional). They walked away with a 28-21 victory over the Keyport/Hudson Regional Raiders on Saturday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Falcons as it put an end to their ten-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Monmouth Regional found their leader in sophomore Tyler Gustafson, who rushed for 220 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. The dominant performance gave Gustafson a new career-high in rushing yards. Jaylin Reeves did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 124 receiving yards.

Gustafson was just one part of a punishing run game: Monmouth Regional was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 229 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Monmouth Regional's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. Leading the way was Jaden Hall with two sacks.

Monmouth Regional's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-9. As for Keyport/Hudson Regional, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 1-9.
