Softball Recap: Vel Phillips Memorial Has No Trouble Against Madison West

Vel Phillips Memorial won the last time they faced Madison West and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Spartans walked away with a 5-1 win over the Regents. The match marked the Spartans' most dominant victory of the season.

Katherine Longoria spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks.

On the hitting side, Vel Phillips Memorial let Tricia Balice and Nev Seal run wild. Balice went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Seal went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Vel Phillips Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Madison West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.
