Baseball Recap: Nutley Wins Going Away Against Verona

Nutley got themselves on the board against Verona on Tuesday, but Verona never followed suit. They blew past the Hillbillies 11-0. Considering the Maroon Raiders' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Drew Slomkowski tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Andrew Raboy, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Keith Jirataprasot was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs.

Nutley's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for Verona, the loss snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 10-2 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nutley will welcome Bayonne at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Verona, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Boonton at 12:00 p.m.
