The Sarasota Sailors are taking a road trip to square off against the George Jenkins Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sarasota is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Sarasota heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Thursday. They lost 12-2 to Venice. The Sailors haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

Sarasota saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braedon Mackay, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, George Jenkins came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Blue Devils by a score of 9-4.

Junior Jacquez looked comfortable as he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Armani Cozza, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Brayden Abdon also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

George Jenkins' win bumped their record up to 19-8. As for Sarasota, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-6-1.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sarasota has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like George Jenkins struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Sarasota skirted past George Jenkins 1-0 in their previous matchup back in March of 2017. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Sailors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
