Game recap: Chaparral High School Football Team defeats Temecula Valley

Chaparral (Temecula, Calif.) led 13-7 at halftime, but Temecula Valley (Temecula, Calif.) regained the lead on a Kyle Plantier touchdown pass to Dominique Maiden with 4:00 remaining in the third. The Pumas finally took the lead for the win when Austin Reza threw a touchdown to Franklin Shearer with 2:00 remaining in the third quarter.

Chaparral expanded its lead to seven points entering the fourth quarter. CHS's lone score in the quarter came on an Reza touchdown pass to Shearer.

Coming into the game the Pumas had allowed 19.2 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding the Golden Bears well below their season average of 25.5 points scored per game.

CHS also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 42-6.



The win brought Chaparral's winning streak to three games.

Temecula Valley (2-5) goes up against Murrieta Mesa in a Southwestern game matchup next week, while Chaparral (5-2) locks horns with Great Oak also in a Southwestern game.
