Norwich RVT was handed a three-set defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They skirted past Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy 3-2. The victory was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Norwich RVT took Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 21-25, 15-13.
Norwich RVT can attribute much of their success to Landon O'Brien, who had 16 digs and one assist. Another player making a difference was Max Stimson, who had 11 digs and one assist.
Norwich RVT was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. They are a perfect 6-0 when they serve at least ten aces.
Meanwhile, Rockville posted their closest win since April 30th on Monday. They won by a set and slipped past Simsbury 3-2.
Rockville was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-23, 18-25, 25-17, 15-8.
Norwich RVT better keep an eye on Wesley Foo. He was instrumental in Rockville's win, getting 17 digs and three aces. Those 17 digs gave Foo a new career-high.
Norwich RVT now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Rockville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's match: Norwich RVT has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 8.9 aces per game. However, it's not like Rockville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.2 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
