Baseball Game Preview: Dunedin Falcons vs. Sickles Gryphons

The Dunedin Falcons will square off against the Sickles Gryphons at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Thursday, Dunedin came up short against Northside Christian and fell 7-4.

Madden James was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jett Matos, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Sickles unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gaither.

Jake Taylor put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Jordan Yost made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Dunedin's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Sickles, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-6.

Dunedin might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Sickles when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
