Basketball Game Preview: Sitka Wolves vs. Mt. Edgecumbe Braves

Sitka is 2-8 against Mt. Edgecumbe since February of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. without much rest, having both just played. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

In Thursday's Canine Competition, Sitka came out on top. They breezed past Redington to the tune of 74-29 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won six in a row.

Meanwhile, Mt. Edgecumbe blew past Houston, posting a 78-51 victory. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while the Hawks are ranked 60th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mt. Edgecumbe is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Sitka's win bumped their record up to 20-3.

Sitka and Mt. Edgecumbe were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup last Tuesday, but Sitka came up empty-handed after a 71-70 loss. Can Sitka avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
