Football Game Preview: Washington Hatchets vs. Pike Central Chargers

The Washington Hatchets are taking a road trip to take on the Pike Central Chargers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither Washington nor Pike Central posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

On Friday, Washington ended up a good deal behind Mt. Vernon and lost 24-9. The Hatchets have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Washington didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cooper Wright and Brody Clark.

Meanwhile, Pike Central fell victim to Tecumseh and their airtight defense on Friday. They took a blow against the Braves, falling 36-0.

Washington's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Pike Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything went Washington's way against Pike Central when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as Washington made off with a 27-7 win. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Chargers' Matthew Meadows, who rushed for 67 yards and one TD, and also threw for 141 yards on 14 of 31 attempts.
