Basketball Recap: Browne Comes Up Short

Browne lost against South Mountain back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Browne Bruins had to suffer through a 72-16 loss at the hands of the South Mountain Jaguars. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 279th, while the Jaguars are ranked 130th).

This is the second loss in a row for Browne and nudges their season record down to 2-16. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 18-6 Cesar Chavez (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 66.7% over those games). As for South Mountain, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Browne will square off against West Point at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Mountain, they will be playing at home against Cesar Chavez at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
