Montezuma-Cortez hasn't had much luck against Pagosa Springs recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will look to defend their home field against the Pirates at 7:00 p.m.

Montezuma-Cortez's offense might be in the hot seat on Friday considering what happened against Alamosa on Friday. They were dealt a 40-0 loss at the hands of the Mean Moose. The shutout was out of character for the Panthers seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in September.

Meanwhile, Pagosa Springs waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 49-14 victory over the Cowboys. Considering the Pirates have won four matchups by more than 34 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Montezuma-Cortez's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for Pagosa Springs, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Montezuma-Cortez might still be hurting after the 42-21 loss they got from Pagosa Springs when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Pirates' Colton Lucero, who rushed for 251 yards and four scores while picking up 10.0 yards per carry.
