Softball Recap: Washington Patriots vs. Lincoln Abes
Washington had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They were the clear victors by a 13-4 margin over the Lincoln Abes on Wednesday.
Steve-Rae Garcia-Zamora made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 19 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Garcia-Zamora was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zoe Garcia-Zamora, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Another player making a difference was Dee Moore, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
