Baseball Game Preview: Culver City Centaurs vs. Santa Monica Vikings

For the second straight game, Culver City will face off against Santa Monica. The Centaurs will take on the Vikings at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Culver City 2, Santa Monica 1.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Culver City is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Santa Monica just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Centaurs couldn't push the score so high this time.

For Santa Monica's part, they got a great performance from Gavin Kirtley as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Blue Hunter was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Ehlers, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles.

Santa Monica has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Culver City, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 12-1 and their overall record down to 17-7.
