Recap: Pine Grove Cardinals vs. North Schuylkill Spartans
This season hasn't been kind to the Pine Grove Cardinals, who are still winless after their sixth game. They took a serious blow against North Schuylkill on Thursday, falling 67-30. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Pine Grove has scored all season.
North Schuylkill was led to victory by Zane Zulkowski and Jack Keiter. Zulkowski scored 17 points along with four steals and three blocks, while Keiter scored 22 points. The contest was Keiter's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Flail, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Pine Grove bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for North Schuylkill, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Pine Grove will be home for the holidays to greet Schuylkill Haven at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Schuylkill Haven presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Pine Grove in Pennsylvania (Schuylkill Haven is ranked 133rd, while Pine Grove is ranked 611th). As for North Schuylkill, they will head out on the road to face off against Panther Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Panther Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Thursday.
