Baseball Game Preview: Richards Bulldogs vs. Shepard Astros

The Richards Bulldogs will challenge the Shepard Astros at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Richards' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Shepard's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Richards is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Whitney Young just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Dolphins by a score of 7-6.

Meanwhile, Shepard fell victim to Wilmington and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Wildcats, falling 6-0. Having soared to a lofty 24 runs in the game before, the Astros' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Shepard has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11-2 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Richards, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-6.
