Softball Recap: Foothill Tech Comes Up Short

If Foothill Tech was feeling good fresh off their 14-3 takedown of Hueneme last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Foothill Tech Dragons lost 21-11 to the Santa Barbara Dons on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dragons of the 8-7 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Kyra Bouchard made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Jocelyn Morales was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Foothill Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .513 or higher in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Foothill Tech now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Santa Barbara, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Foothill Tech will head out to face off against Calabasas at 3:00 p.m. on March 6th. Foothill Tech knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Calabasas likes a good challenge. As for Santa Barbara, they will welcome Newbury Park at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Newbury Park's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Santa Barbara's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
