Softball Recap: Edinburg North Comes Up Short

Edinburg North easily dispatched La Joya last Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Cougars fell just short of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears by a score of 5-3 on Friday. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Bears recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Destany Bermudez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits.

On the hitting side, Edinburg North saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Guerra, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Edinburg North's defeat dropped their record down to 21-8-1. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edinburg North will venture away from home to challenge Edinburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.35 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, they are taking a road trip to take on La Joya at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
