Baseball Game Preview: University City Centurions vs. Helix Highlanders

The University City Centurions will head out on the road to challenge the Helix Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. University City will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

While University City's win against San Diego wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. University City skirted past San Diego 8-7. The Centurions' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The team relied heavily on Josh Kaplan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Ethan Antenore was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Helix fell victim to Coronado and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Islanders. The Highlanders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Helix saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kie Smith, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Smith hit this season.

University City pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. As for Helix, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
