Recap: Lake Weir Hurricanes vs. Forest Wildcats
This season hasn't been kind to the Lake Weir Hurricanes, who are still winless after their seventh matchup. They had to suffer through a rough 66-19 loss at the hands of Forest. Lake Weir was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-9.
Forest found their leader in underclassman Jessica Colon, who scored 14 points. Colon also grabbed two steals for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Maleah Flagler, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Lake Weir has fallen quite a ways from their 14-7 record last season and are now at 0-7. As for Forest, they pushed their record up to 6-4 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Lake Weir will be playing at home against Belleview at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Belleview presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Lake Weir in Florida (Belleview is ranked 295th, while Lake Weir is ranked 618th). Forest's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hawthorne at 7:30 p.m. on December 14th. Hopefully Hawthorne focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
