Basketball Game Preview: Westfall Mustangs vs. Wellston Golden Rockets

The Westfall Mustangs will challenge the Wellston Golden Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Westfall took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged Fairfield out 46-44.

Meanwhile, Wellston had to endure a nine-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Meigs on Thursday as Wellston made off with a 48-24 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Golden Rockets have posted since December 9, 2024.

Westfall's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-9. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Wellston, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-13.

Westfall was able to grind out a solid victory over Wellston in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 52-42. Will Westfall repeat their success, or does Wellston have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
