Denver East hit Poudre with a four-run sixth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Impalas took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Angels. That's two games in a row now that the Impalas have lost by exactly three runs.

Jake Fontana and Angelo Vieira stepped up to the plate in a big way. Fontana went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI, while Vieira went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that Fontana has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Windsor made easy work of Liberty on Saturday and carried off a 13-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wizards, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Windsor also got a great performance from Marcus Hull as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.

At the plate, James Beets was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Brandon Anderson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Windsor always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty only posted an OBP of .321.

Poudre's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Windsor, their record now sits at 13-5.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Poudre has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Windsor struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Poudre couldn't quite finish off Windsor in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 and fell 4-2. Can the Impalas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
