The Alexander Cougars will venture away from home to take on the Harrison Hoyas at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Alexander will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.
If Alexander beats Harrison with 18 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Cougars blew past New Manchester 18-0 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 18 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Ebbie Simmons made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
In other pitching news, Sloan Shaw looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Alexis May and Kenzie Townsend did most of the damage at the plate: May got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while Townsend went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most stolen bases May has posted since back in September. Hannah Harris was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Alexander was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in five consecutive games.
Harrison came out on top against Cartersville on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fourth inning. The Hoyas narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Hurricanes 9-7.
Alexander's record is now 24-2. As for Harrison, their record now sits at 23-4.
Alexander beat Harrison 3-0 when the teams last played back in August of 2019. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Hoyas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
