Football Game Preview: Clark Chargers vs. Chaparral Cowboys

The Clark Chargers will venture away from home to take on the Chaparral Cowboys at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clark is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Clark is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Legacy, who was ranked 17th at the time (Clark was ranked 23rd). Clark took an 18-14 hit to the loss column at the hands of Legacy. While the Chargers didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Longhorns 8-0 in the first quarter.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ava Reed, who picked up 51 receiving yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 39 yards. Another passer making a difference was Taedyn Parks, who threw for 93 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Chaparral played a tough match on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. 2025 welcomed they with a 33-13 loss courtesy of Pinecrest Academy Cadence. The Cowboys were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 20-0.

Clark's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Chaparral, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Everything went Clark's way against Chaparral when the teams last played back in January of 2024, as Clark made off with a 25-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Clark since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
