Basketball Game Preview: Chavez Titans vs. Bear Creek Bruins

Chavez and Bear Creek are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Chavez Titans will venture away from home to take on the Bear Creek Bruins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Wednesday, Chavez lost to Edison at home by a 68-50 margin. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 796th, while the Vikings are ranked 205th).

Meanwhile, Bear Creek was fully in charge on Wednesday, breezing past Tokay 80-50.

Bear Creek's win bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Chavez, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.

Chavez was dealt a bruising 73-46 loss at the hands of Bear Creek in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Chavez avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
