Flag Football Game Preview: Crean Lutheran Saints vs. Canyon Comanches

The Crean Lutheran Saints are taking a road trip to face off against the Canyon Comanches at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Crean Lutheran will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Crean Lutheran turned things around against Sonora on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 27-14.

A big part of Crean Lutheran's win came down to the chemistry between Avery Wishney and her top target Allyson Schmida. Wishney threw for 359 yards and three TDs while completing 77.4% of her passes while Schmida picked up 174 receiving yards and a pair of scores. What's more, Schmida posted two receiving touchdowns, the most she's had since back in September of 2024.

Crean Lutheran's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Riley Paik.

Meanwhile, Canyon faced Esperanza in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Comanches walked away with a 21-12 victory over the Aztecs.

Crean Lutheran's record is now 10-12. As for Canyon, their record now sits at 18-1.

Crean Lutheran came up short against Canyon in their previous matchup back in September, falling 12-6. Can the Saints avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
