Baseball Recap: Barstow Aztecs vs. Silverado Hawks

Barstow had lost seven games straight , but after bumping their record up to 7-12 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Silverado Hawks as they made off with a 15-7 win. The Aztecs not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th (when they won 18-8).

Noah Gudino was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Barstow's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 4-11 when he doesn't). Gudino was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one double. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kekoa Samples was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Joshya Romero, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Barstow was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

As for Silverado, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered against Barstow since March 16, 2023.

On Silverado's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Pauling, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Micheal Bejarano also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
