Soccer Game Preview: Bridge City vs. Lumberton

Bridge City is 0-10 against Lumberton since March of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Bridge City Cardinals will take on the Lumberton Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Bridge City comes in on five and Lumberton on eight.

Bridge City gave up the first goal last Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Hardin-Jefferson. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Hawks are ranked 782nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bridge City hit Hardin-Jefferson with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Ricardo Bercian, Nate Stafford, and Hudson Campbell.

Meanwhile, Lumberton kept a clean sheet against Little Cypress-Mauriceville on Friday. They came out on top against the Bears by a score of 2-0. Give the Raiders' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Lumberton pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 18 goals over those four matches. As for Bridge City, their record now sits at 12-4.

Bridge City suffered a grim 5-2 defeat to Lumberton in their previous meeting back in January. Can Bridge City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
