Softball Game Preview: Edgar Wildcats vs. Auburndale Apaches

The Edgar Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Auburndale Apaches at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Saturday, Edgar didn't have quite enough to beat Tomahawk and fell 12-11.

Emery Borchardt was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendra Mucha, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Auburndale has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.94 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Saturday. They lost 13-1 to Antigo. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Apaches have suffered since March 22, 2024.

Edgar has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season. As for Auburndale, their loss ended a 17-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-5.

Edgar suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Auburndale in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
