Recap: Conemaugh Township Indians vs. Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays

The Conemaugh Township Indians had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They secured a 70-65 W over Conemaugh Valley. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

It was another big night for Jon Updyke, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Conemaugh Township's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Matera, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Several Blue Jays players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeremy Dietz, who scored 21 points along with nine rebounds. The matchup was Dietz's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Landon Percinsky, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conemaugh Township will be home for the holidays to greet Portage at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Portage knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Conemaugh Township likes a good challenge. Conemaugh Valley will be home for the holidays to greet United at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. United will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while Conemaugh Valley is ranked 152nd).
