Recap: McBee Panthers vs. C.A. Johnson Hornets
The McBee Panthers lost against the C.A. Johnson Hornets back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. McBee fell 52-43 to C.A. Johnson. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for McBee in their matchups with C.A. Johnson: they've now lost seven in a row.
McBee's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hayden Griggs, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Melton, who scored 12 points.
It was another big night for Lamont Jackson, who scored 23 points along with four steals for C.A. Johnson. Jackson hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Another player making a difference was Jayden Guess, who scored six points along with seven assists and five steals.
McBee now has a losing record at 7-8. As for C.A. Johnson, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-10.
McBee will head out on the road to square off against Governor's School for Science & Math at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Governor's School for Science & Math is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for C.A. Johnson, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Great Falls at 8:00 p.m. Great Falls knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully C.A. Johnson likes a good challenge.
