Football Recap: Apple Valley Takes Down Saugus in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Apple Valley walked away with it. They strolled past the Saugus Centurions with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 21-7. Winning may never get old, but the Sun Devils sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Apple Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noah Hardeman, who rushed for 164 yards and one touchdown. Those 164 rushing yards gave Hardeman a new career-high. Jaden Foster was another key pass catcher, picking up 59 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

Apple Valley's run defense was locked in: Saugus could only muster two yards per carry. The Sun Devils' run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 3.67 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 5.8 on average over their last five games.

Apple Valley's record now sits at 9-4. As for Saugus, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 10-3 record.

Apple Valley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-7 loss against Barstow on the 28th. Saugus does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
